As part of KT2026 conversations series, we are excited to present a talk 'The World is not Enough' by Pakistani artist and professor Mr. Rashid Rana.

About artist: Rashid Rana 

A leading artist of his generation in South Asia, Rashid Rana initiated an entirely new artform from Pakistan. Rashid Rana has exhibited his ideas, imagery, and pictorial strategies, extensively at various galleries and museums globally. His works are in public and private collections including the British Museum London, Metropolitan Museum New York, Fukuoka Museum of Art, Japan, and Saatchi Collection, London. 

Rana is the recipient of the Game Changer Asia Art Award, the prestigious Pakistani civilian honour Sitara-i-Imtiaz, and the International Artist of the Year by SAVAC Canada in 2003. Rashid Rana is an artist, curator, and an educator. He is a founding faculty, and currently the Dean, of the School of Visual Arts and Design at BNU, Lahore.

Rana’s recent projects include the design of the Pakistan Pavilion exterior at the Expo Dubai, the 2020 World Expo.

About the moderator: 

Sophia L. Pandé is a writer, art-historian, and film-maker. She is Director of Development at KVPT, and the Founding Director of The Kalā Salon, a non-profit art space and foundation. In the past she has been a long-running columnist for The Kathmandu Post and Nepali Times. She consults on sustainability, strategic planning, resource mobilisation and partnerships, creative and cultural industries, and education outreach.
