Born into a family of Chinese traditional medicine practitioners, many of Wing Po So’s works are connected to her memories of family and childhood. She has solid knowledge of herb growing, fows of energy, astrological science, traditional psychology, and philosophy and she employs this knowledge in her artistic work, connecting her views on microscopic and macroscopic phenomena to her in-depth exploration of the physical and philosophical world.
In So’s work, di ferent herbs combine into forms that are sometimes organic, sometimes arti fcial. By blurring the boundary between species and objects, these forms and structures are endowed with a mysterious life force, calling for the connection of individual lives with the vast space of the universe.
